MANDALA AIRLINES FLIGHT 091

On September 5, 2005, a Boeing 737-200 run by Mandala Airlines crashed after take-off from Medan’s Polonia International Airport. The impact of the jet onto a busy road in the Padang Bulan residential area destroyed dozens of homes and cars, as 104 people on board and 47 on the ground were killed. Human error and mechanical failure are among the possibilities being explored in the crash.
